<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>   The results of the bioclimatic comfort assessment of urbanized areas in Belarus using the Universal Thermal Climate Index (UTCI) are presented. For the period 2023–2025, patterns of thermal regime transformation in all urban settlements were identified by comparing them with background meteorological station conditions, based on reanalysis data and modeling of surface parameters (sky view factor, roughness). It was established that the spatial distribution of the index follows geographical zonality (increasing from northeast to southwest), which is disrupted within cities under the influence of land-use patterns. The study demonstrates a prevalence of comfortable conditions (41.0 % of the time) and the absence of extreme stress categories on an annual average; the intra-annual dynamics of the thermal stress structure are also presented. It was revealed that urban development increases UTCI values by an average of 1.3…3.4 °C, which extends the duration of comfortable conditions by 5.7 p. p. Furthermore, a modulation effect on extreme thermal stress was observed. For the first time, it is shown that in the temperate climate of Belarus, urban morphology currently affects the frequency and duration of heat waves during the summer period. The results demonstrate the specific impact of urbanization in temperate latitudes and can be utilized in urban environment planning.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>биоклиматическая комфортность</kwd><kwd>универсальный термический климатический индекс (UTCI)</kwd><kwd>локальные климатические зоны (LCZ)</kwd><kwd>городской микроклимат</kwd><kwd>тепловой комфорт</kwd><kwd>урбанизированные территории</kwd><kwd>волны тепла</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>bioclimatic comfort</kwd><kwd>Universal Thermal Climate Index (UTCI)</kwd><kwd>local climate zones (LCZ)</kwd><kwd>urban microclimate</kwd><kwd>thermal comfort</kwd><kwd>urbanized areas</kwd><kwd>heat waves</kwd></kwd-group><funding-group><funding-statement xml:lang="ru">Работа выполнена в рамках задания 1.01 «Геоэкологические риски: прогнозы, оценки последствий, способы адаптации и снижения негативных воздействий» научно-исследовательской работы 3 «Разработать научные основы рационального использования геоэкологического потенциала урбанизированных территорий Беларуси» государственной программы научных исследований «Рациональное природопользование» на 2026–2030 годы</funding-statement><funding-statement xml:lang="en">The work was carried out within the framework of task 1.01 “Geoecological risks: forecasts, impact assessments, adaptation methods and reduction of negative impacts” of research work 3 “Develop scientific foundations for the rational use of the geoecological potential of urbanized territories of Belarus” of the state scientific research program “Rational Nature Management” for 2026–2030</funding-statement></funding-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title><ref id="cit1"><label>1</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">Outdoor human thermal perception in various climates : A comprehensive review of approaches, methods and quantification / O.
